Average Income Tax Refunds Up 10% Because of Recovery
Act Tax Credits
Mineola, NY -- On Wednesday, Representitives, Steve Israel
(D-Huntington) and Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola) hold press
conference alerting Long Islanders to take advantage of
federal tax benefits passed as part of the Recovery Act.
Average income tax refunds are up 10 percent because of
Recovery Act tax credits such as the $8,000 first-time
home buyer credit, the $1,500 tax credit for home energy
efficiency improvements and others. Long Islanders who
have already filed their taxes can still amend them to
qualify for a Recovery Act tax credit.
